When starting college, it’s important to know all the options you have for getting assistance financially. How do you know what is available and what you qualify for? How do you apply?
Let’s start off by breaking it down. We’re going to cover types of aid that are available and how to apply for them. Then, we will go over a checklist that will keep you on track to getting the right information to your school at the right time.
We will sort the types of aid by where they come from. You can get aid from:
- The U.S. Government
- Your State
- Bellus Academy
- A nonprofit or private organization
The U.S. Government
This aid can come in the form of a loan or a grant.
To apply for federal student aid, fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Aid).
What do I need to fill out the FAFSA?
A federal loan is money that has to be paid back with interest. Make sure to consider your options carefully when choosing a loan. There are several types of loans. Click on the type for more information on it and how to apply.
You may not qualify for federal aid, but you should always check with your state to see if they have available grants. Find out more about your state grants here.
Bellus offers several types of scholarships to those who qualify.
You may be able to receive these scholarships if:
- You are a recent high school graduate
- You are a Bellus alumni
- You are in the military
