Mother’s Day Student Feature: Natalie Rook

May 4, 2016

Natalie Rook

Program: Cosmetology
Start Date: September 2015
Projected Graduation Date: August 2016
Names and ages of kids: Kayden, 9 years old

The most rewarding part of being a mom:
Watching him grow up to be a well-rounded boy. He’s such a gentleman and he is so smart. He’s changing all the time and I couldn’t be more proud of the little man he is becoming.

The most challenging thing about going to school and being a mom:
Juggling everything. I’ve been a stay at home mom for the past nine years so this has been a huge adjustment.

What made you decide to go to school at this point in your life?
Kayden is a little older now and I was ready for a change. It was now or never!

What advice do you have for other moms who are contemplating about going back to school?
It seems that no time is the right time. As moms we put our kids first, as we should, but there is a time when you have to do something for you— so do it!

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day?
With my husband and son at home relaxing.
