What’s New at National City
We recently held our Bellus Academy 2012 Summer Graduation at the Scottish Rite Center which included 41 graduates from our National City campus. As I sat and watched the parade of students accepting their certificates of completion I started to reminisce about the past eight months I have spent as Academy Director. The growth that we have made as students, educators, staff and an academy as a whole is outstanding!W e have had several first time accomplishments that include two students completing their externships at the world class Doves studio in Santa Monica, student Michael Gregory taking 2nd place in the S.T.A.R. cut and color competition, and making a big impact in the community with fashion and editorial projects. These achievements, coupled with the evolution of our staff and population have allowed our academy to develop a culture consistent with the highest Bellus standards.
We are also extremely pleased that our student council has taken a huge role in National City. They help to develop student strategies and practices by meeting on a weekly basis. While having an active voice in the culture and guidelines we set forth daily they have taken it upon themselves to set up a recycling program, a clean-up management team, fundraising events and also played a hand in creating the outdoor break area including new picnic tables. On the clinic floor the consistency of our student’s work has been outstanding. Students continuing to break service and retail goals of years past. Our clients are continuously leaving satisfied with salon and spa quality services from our future professionals. The customer reviews that we receive daily are of the highest praise and continue to allow our students to develop a client base while completing their program.
All of the recent achievements have come directly through dedication to changing a culture which includes daily habits, organization plans and structure. The students and staff have done an incredible job striving for excellence. I look forward to the continual growth through the second half of 2012 together as a director a staff, our future professionals and as a campus. I look forward to seeing you in National City.
