Our academy worked closely with members of our advisory board, consisting of top spa and salon owners. This included international spa consultant Catherine Swinscoe, and nationally acclaimed author and trainer in clinical esthetics Janet McCormick. The goal was to develop an advanced clinical esthetics and spa curriculum focused on the latest cutting-edge skills desired by clinical spas and top-tier spas.

"Times have changed as U.S. spa clients have become educated and influenced by the media concerning available anti-aging and acne care and are now demanding the more advanced care treatments. Concurrently, physicians are adding medical aesthetic level care to their offices and medical spas. These offices are springing up prolifically," according to McCormick.

Students enrolled in the Master Esthetic program will receive extensive in-depth training and hands-on experience in the areas of anti-aging and acne care utilizing advanced skin evaluation techniques, resurfacing/peels, microdermabrasion and other cutting-edge procedures normally found in five star resorts and medical spas.

"Their professional esthetic staff must know advanced skills not previously taught in the traditional esthetic course as well as understand medical level care. I'm pleased to say this course equips students with the necessary knowledge," states McCormick.

We are the first and only west coast ITEC approved academy providing graduates the opportunity to receive an international certificate. ITEC is an international examination board that offers a variety of qualifications worldwide. Graduates who successfully pass the ITEC examination are certified to work in over 35 countries. ITEC qualifications are supported by the professional beauty and spa industry and are easily transferable nationally and internationally. Our management team and instructors use their extensive experience with luxury and medical spas to assist students in networking with physicians and five-star resorts.

State Board Preparation

All of our instructional programs meet and exceed all of the requirements of the State of California. We offer a mock board test that simulates the actual state board’s practical and written test for licensure. This is completed two months prior to graduation to allow students sufficient time to practice on any areas that they do not feel confident in.

Massage Technician, Basic and Master Esthetics - Esthetics 105

This 1450-hour program adds 250 hours of Massage Technician training to our Basic and Master Esthetics courses. The combined technical expertise combined with the advanced training helps students maximize their earning potential and employability in the spa environment. Bellus Academy is the only academy in California to offer a combined esthetician and massage technician course. Once completed, you will be certified in both fields, giving you maximum flexibility and earning potential in the development of your career. Being dual qualified in the spa industry is highly desirable to employers.
 

Make Up Artistry, Basic and Master Esthetics - Esthetics 104

This 1350-hour program combines the Make Up Artistry program (Make this a link to the make-up page) with Basic and Master Esthetic program. The world-renowned Make-Up Designory program inspires the curriculum for this certification. In addition, we have an internationally acclaimed make-up artist on staff to provide ongoing advanced workshops. We the only academy outside of New York and Los Angeles to offer a professional make-up course at this level.

 

Basic & Master Esthetics – Esthetics 103

Want to leave the academy with the equivalent to five years work experience? This 1200-hour program combines the Basic Esthetics with the Master Esthetic program. We are the only academy in California to offer a Master Esthetics program. In this course, students receive both in-depth training and hands on experience in the latest skills desired by the five star spas and medical spa world. Armed with these skills, achieving a desirable job placement in the spa world is practically guaranteed.
