Bellus Academy has three campuses in California and one in Manhattan… Kansas?? Yes, that’s right, this location catches everyone by surprise! Our Manhattan, KS location is a star as bright as any other Bellus school! Manhattan is a fantastic and unique place, so we wanted to share some of the things we love about our town in Kansas!
Kansas State University
At the beating heart of Manhattan lies the home of the Kansas State Wildcats. Kansas State University is a large part of what gives Manhattan that cozy college town feel. The student population helps to keep the town lively and interesting. There’s never a shortage of things to do! This helps make it so that there’s no shortage of friends for our students to make and plenty of opportunities to branch out with their educational and professional opportunities!
Aggieville
Aggieville is only a block or two from the Kansas State campus, and is the most happening place in all of Manhattan. Aggieville is made up of several square blocks near the city center that are packed with restaurants, bars, and more! College students and locals alike enjoy spending their nights on the town in Aggieville. This place got its name from the original name of what is now Kansas State University, formerly known as Kansas State Agricultural College.
Aggieville isn’t just a place where people like to spend their time. Founded in 1889, Aggieville is an integral part of Manhattan’s culture and history! It is often the center for many community events that take place all year round. These events range from things like parades and races to chili crawls and New Years Eve ball drops! It’s a central part of the community that everyone knows and loves. Bellus students get to share in the fun of Aggieville because it’s just a part of life for us here!
Country Stampede Music Festival
On top of having a lively community center, Manhattan Kansas also hosts the state’s largest country music festival every year! Country music fans can get their dance on at this three-day music festival every year! If you love a good time in the summer with lively country music, the Country Stampede Music Festival is something to watch for!

Topeka Kansas
The capital of Kansas, Topeka is one of the larger cities in the state that can give you some variety during your time at Bellus in Manhattan. Students love camping and swimming out at Lake Shawnee. If you’re not a huge fan of the outdoors, the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center is a great place to go on your own or with kids to see some beautiful animals from all over the world in a humane and quaint setting. There’s plenty to do in the area!
Kansas City
If you need a taste of the big city, Kansas City is a relatively short drive away and can meet your needs! It’s full of things to do! If you’re a fan of roller coasters and theme parks, Worlds of Fun is a popular attraction during the warmer months. If you prefer a quieter day out indoors, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is stuffed with all kinds from many different time periods. For an afternoon of shopping with the girlfriends, Crown Center is a large, state-of-the-art shopping and entertainment district with a huge variety of stores and performances to enjoy. If you have children that need some educational entertainment, Science City is a great option to enrich their minds and entertain them at the same time!
