Bellus Academy’s Terrell Mitchell Wins Project Runway Photo Challenge
Congratulations to our very own Terrell Mitchell, Bellus Academy graduate and Outreach Coordinator, who was selected as the Grand Prize winner of the Project Runway Photo Challenge!
Terrell entered the contest with his “rock me crazy” hairstyle in November and was announced as the grand prize winner on January 3rd. As the winner, Terrell will be sent to Chicago by Alterna Haircare and Behind The Chair (BTC) on an all-expenses paid trip.
During the trip he will attend a hands-on BTC Academy styling class with Michael Shaun Corby, Global Creative Director of Alterna Haircare. The class will focus on the hottest styling looks and trends for celebrities. He will also attend the Project Runway All Stars Wrap Party where he will assist in styling the models before they head out to the runway.
The hairstyle Terrell chose to submit had been recently created for a designer launching her look book and quickly became his favorite. The look he created was a perfect fit for the Project Runway competition, exemplifying what viewers would see on the show.
In the aftermath of his win, Terrell encourages students to put themselves out there and take risks. He is going into the trip with an open mind and looking forward to learning new things. Terrell is honored to be able to meet great designers and have the opportunity to network in the industry.
After the trip, Terrell plans to bring everything he learns back to Bellus Academy with him so he can teach new styles to the student design team.
